Srinagar, June 19, 2025: Amid soaring temperatures and a prevailing heatwave across the Kashmir region, the Jammu and Kashmir Government is actively considering the announcement of summer vacation for all Government and recognized Private Schools starting from July 1, 2025.

In an exclusive interaction with Greater Kashmir, Education Minister Sakina Masood Itoo confirmed that the government is reviewing the situation and is likely to declare a one-week summer break for students beginning July 1.

“We are planning to announce summer vacation from July 1 of 2025 for one week. We will assess the weather condition before announcing any extension in the summer vacations,”

The Minister’s statement comes in response to increasing demand from stakeholders, including parents, educators, and civil society, urging the government to take immediate steps in view of the rising heat levels affecting student well-being.
